The unit was established in 1948. Thousands of negatives are preserved in the archives of the photography section regarding important events of all social, cultural and development fields. Providing photographs for media, for educational purposes and for various ministries and Departments is done by the photography Archives.

Official coverage of nationally important events and visits of overseas diplomats is done by the photography section.
