Desathiya & Publication Unit

Publication of Desathiya magazine was started on February 4, 1978 as a new experiment in the field of mass communication and the objective was to provide the reader with the opportunity to read local and foreign information in Sinhala . Its objective is not to make a profit but to fulfill the social responsibility of getting people's participation in the country's development by building a society of greater cognizance of knowledge.

Children and young adults, regardless of age, are represented as readers, and, especially, the flow of knowledge to many people is generated through this publication by distributing it to schools, universities, and national and public libraries, and, thereby, it is expected that use of this magazine is a factor that confirms social investment beyond financial investment.

Basic functions have been the article compilation, editing, page layout, printing, distribution, media workshops and press conference coverage.
