Publicity Unit

Coordination of all media coverage activities of the Department of Government Information and organizing all related activities.

This unit performs the activities such as issuance of government official news, issuance of the news to media institutions including the news that making the citizens aware of government development process, organizing news conferences to inform Cabinet decisions, preparation of Cabinet decisions in all three languages and releasing to the media, organizing press conferences, coordination of media activities of national and nationally important events, coordination of the activities regarding official visits of foreign diplomats to Sri Lanka, preparation of Guide to Media and Guide to Ministry telephone directories, organizing media workshops and discussions, coordination activities to provide necessary facilities to journalists as a timely requirement, preparation of special reports as per the instructions of the His Excellency, the president.
