District Media Co-ordination Unit
Carrying out coordination activities of 25 media units
District Media Units have been established in 25 districts under the Government Information Department. The establishment of these media units was made on 01st December 1999. Later on, a development officer and project implementation assistant who were recruited under the graduate recruitment program had been attached to these media units with the objective of increasing the efficiency of district media units where only a news officer was attached at the beginning.
Since then, the district media units have been functioning as the main gathering place for the development news scattered throughout the districts. Government development news will be distributed to all media organizations via these units.
